Mealime is shutting down — a free alternative
Mealime has announced it will close on 21 October 2026. Its owner, Albertsons, is moving users to Meals Hub inside its own grocery-store apps. If you used Mealime for quick recipes with the nutrition worked out, here is an honest look at what Solviro does, what it doesn't, and how to move over before your data is gone.

What Mealime's closing notice says
- The app shuts down on 21 October 2026.
- All personal data is deleted at shutdown. The closing page does not mention an export tool, so save anything you want to keep now — screenshots or copying recipes by hand.
- Pro subscriptions stopped charging when the closure was announced, and Pro features are free for everyone until the end.
- Users are pointed to Meals Hub in the Albertsons Companies store apps (such as Safeway). Settings do not move across automatically.

Where Solviro is the better fit
- Every recipe shows calories, protein, carbs and fat per serving, free — worked out from the exact weights, not typed in by hand.
- Meal Builder starts from what you already have: tick your fridge and it shows what you can cook now, and what one extra item would unlock.
- Cook mode explains the basics under every step — dicing an onion, what a simmer looks like, when chicken is done — so it suits people who have never cooked.
- Food diary, workouts and recipes live in one app, so the meal you cook is the meal you log.
Where Mealime is better
- Mealime builds a whole week's meal plan and turns it into one grocery list. Solviro does not do weekly planning or shopping lists yet.
- Mealime had filters for many diets. Solviro's recipes are filtered by goal (high protein, low carb, quick) rather than by named diets.
- Mealime was a native iPhone and Android app. Solviro runs in your phone's browser — you can add it to your home screen, but it is not in the app stores yet.
Switching from Mealime
- 1Before 21 October, open Mealime and save the recipes you love — take screenshots or copy them out. The closing page doesn't mention an export, and your data is deleted at shutdown.
- 2Open the Meal Builder on usesolviro.com, tick the kitchen kit and food you have, and see what you can make today.
- 3Use Cook mode for step-by-step cooking. Everything works without an account; make a free one when you want to log meals or save your kitchen.
Free. No card, no trial.
